The Alabama Administrative Code has established the Building Based Student Support Team (BBSST) as a designated school-based committee designed to meet the needs of general education students at-risk of failure due to academics, behavior, or potential drop-out. The BBSST committee develops a plan of action for students who are referred. These plans are carried out in regular education classes only.

BBSST is not for students with an active IEP or 504 Plan, students in IB, AP, Gifted, Magnet, Honors, or other advanced classes of choice.

BBSST is a service for students with chronic academic and/or behavior challenges in general education classes, career technology, and alternative education classes.
