Limestone Area Community Foundation Scholarship - Eight (8) $1,500.00 scholarships will be awarded to deserving Athens-Limestone County graduating seniors. The intent of the Foundation is to make these scholarships available to those students who may not have a GPA of 3 or 4, but who have the ability to perform college work, and who also have a need for financial assistance. The 100 Black Men of America, Greater Huntsville Chapter Inc. is accepting applications for its 2010 Scholarship Program. The Deadline is March 10, 2010. Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 511, Athens, Al. offers several scholarships each year. Applicants residing in Limestone County must be a direct descendant of a Vietnam Era Veteran. Applicants residing outside Limestone County must be a direct descendant of a Chapter 511 member. Applications must be postmarked by March 31st, 2010. The Smith Scholarship Foundation, Inc., is designed to help deserving students who have exhibited a dedication and sense of integrity through their volunteer, community service work or assistance to their family. These students have struggled against the odds whether it be financial, home life, or disabilities and proven they are willing to help those around them. Only a C+ average is required, as the focus is on the service and commitment of the student to better themselves and their families instead of grades or test scores. Auburn Pulp and Paper Foundation offers scholarship opportunities and will be awarding one student the fifth Courtland Mill Auburn Pulp and Paper Foundation Engineering Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded on merit and cover one half of tuition costs for the first year and could be increased for subsequent years depending on academic performance. To qualify, students need to have high scores in math, chemistry, and physics and have an ACT score of 26 or higher. Golden Excellence Scholarship:
- $6,000 per year
- Based on academic achievement (ACT 28-32 and minimum GPA of 3.3)
Collegiate Honors Scholarship:
- $3,000 per year
- Based on academic achievement (Act 25-27 and minimum GPA of 3.5)
UAB Breakthrough Scholarship:
- $2,000 per year
- Based on Academic Achievement (ACT 24 and minimum GPA of 3.5)
Students are automatically considered for these scholarships upon admission to UAB.
